If you have a narrow space, this is the table for you. It’s just 7.25″ wide, which makes it great for pretty much anywhere, well, kind of.
Let me say this: this table is super light so there might be a few instances where this isn’t the table for you.
If you have kids that tug on furniture, I wouldn’t recommend this table.
If you expect this table to get beat up and hold a ton of weight, I wouldn’t recommend this table.
But, if you want a table that’s inexpensive, pretty, and will hold some basic decor, this is the table for you.
We love that it’s lightweight, quick to make, and has a thin little profile.
Alright, let’s start DIYing!
P.S. Can’t get enough of that white accent wall? Make it! We have the tutorial and cut list all spelled out for you.

STEP 1: CUT YOUR DOWELS
For the most part, we’re just going to trim off the rough edges and make sure these dowels are square.
I like to tape the dowels together on both ends and cut them as if they are one solid board. You’ll cut them all the same length without measuring at all.
7 out of 8 of the dowels will be cut like that. The last dowel will be cut into two 5.75″ pieces.
Step 2: Drill pocket holes
Each leg will have one pocket hole at the top to attach to the table top.
The remaining pieces will all have a pocket hole on each end.
Pocket holes are the foundation of most DIY furniture. Become a pocket hole pro in less than an hour in Pocket Holes: Explained.
STEP 3: SAND
I like to sand before putting everything together so I don’t have to try to get in all of the crevices. I used 150 and 220 grit sandpaper for a nice, smooth finish.
I mean, look at the difference! Sanded on the left, not sanded on the right.
STEP 4: ASSEMBLE THE BASE
Start by assembling the support for the bottom.
Measure and mark 2.5″ from one side of your 5.75″ board. Glue and screw one of the 36″ boards 2.5″ from each side. Make sure all of the pocket holes are facing what will be the bottom.
Next, use glue and screws to attach the legs to each side of the bottom support. We placed the bottom of the support 3.5″ from the bottom of the leg.
When you’re attaching the legs, make sure all of the pocket holes on the legs are facing back. If there are all in the back, there’s no need to fill them later 😉
Then, attach your upper support boards with glue and screws. They will start 2.5″ from the top. Again, make sure the pocket holes are facing the back.
STEP 5: CUT THE TOP
I like to cut the top after assembling the base so that I can get the exact measurement.
Measure the length of your base and then cut your 1×8 to the same length.
STEP 6: ATTACH THE TOP
Using glue and the pocket holes that you drilled in your legs, attach the legs to the top. Ideally, the corner of the legs should line up with the corner of the top.
STEP 7: PAINT
For a super-fast finish, we decided to spray paint our table. It only took about 15 minutes to spray the whole table with a few coats.
What’s even nicer is that we got to put it in place and style it after an hour!
There you have it! Now you know how to make an easy DIY entryway table for right around $30.
Enjoy the clean lines and modern look. We can’t wait to see how you style yours!
